A peaceful seaside community with mesmerizing sunsets
Sereno del Mar is a tranquil community of around 115 homes perched above the Pacific Ocean at an elevation of 190 feet. Sereno del Mar is directly adjacent to Portuguese Beach, and the community’s homes offer stunning views over the ocean and beach. Many feature outdoor decks where you can enjoy mesmerizing sunsets, birdwatching, and views of migrating gray whales. The Coast Highway runs between Sereno del Mar homes and the beachfront, connecting the community with Bodega Bay to the south and Jenner to the north. Many other destinations throughout Sonoma County are easily accessible from Sereno del Mar.
Sereno del Mar consists of single-family homes which typically sit on half-acre lots. Many of its attractive homes are surrounded by lush landscaping with flower gardens and picnic tables.
Homes in Sereno del Mar are just steps from the beach and within walking distance of countless scenic spots along Sonoma County’s dramatic Pacific Ocean coastline. The nearby hamlet of Jenner and the town of Bodega Bay offer a great selection of restaurants, cafes, shops, and wine bars. This serene community is surrounded by spectacular scenery and within easy reach of Sonoma County Wine Country vineyards and golf courses. Popular activities in the area include boating, fishing, and kayaking on the ocean and the creeks and rivers that feed into it. There are also lots of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
Portuguese Beach runs along the coast right in front of Sereno del Mar. Framed by rocky headlands, this vast sandy beach is a jewel of Sonoma Coast State Park’s 17-mile stretch of beautiful coastline. Rock fishing and surf fishing are both popular activities at Portuguese Beach. At low tide, you can walk from Portuguese Beach to Scotty Creek Beach. Flanked at both ends by rocky bluffs, Scotty Creek Beach offers great views of both the ocean and a pastoral inland farming valley. Continue north from Scotty Creek Beach for the narrow rocky stretch of Gleason Beach and the dramatic sight of hazardous waves crashing against Duncan’s Landing. Further north lies the popular camping grounds of Wrights Beach and other beaches along the Kortum Trail. To Portuguese Beach’s south, Schoolhouse Beach is nestled along the oceanfront at Sereno del Mar’s southwest corner. Like Portuguese Beach, Schoolhouse Beach is one of the widest stretches of sand within Sonoma Coast State Park. It’s also a popular destination for fishing and beachcombing. Sereno del Mar’s Nom Nom Cakes sells delicious baked goods and spectacular custom cakes for every occasion. The town of Bodega Bay offers many more businesses, including stylish seafood restaurants Gourmet Au Bay and Terrapin Creek, longtime grocery store Diekmann’s Bay Store, and beachy clothing and outdoor wear retailer East Shore Outfitters. Bodega Bay is also home to Robert Trent Jones Jr.’s stunning Scottish-inspired golf course at The Links at Bodega Harbor. Around a 25-minute drive to Sereno del Mar’s northeast, Northwood Golf Course is another premier golf course with enchanting views over the Russian River and Sonoma County Wine Country. Sonoma County Wine Country’s many vineyards can also be reached easily from Sereno del Mar.
